Managing a registry includes making sure our community has a voice in critical issues related to internet policies and procedures. To effectively represent specific and collective interests, Public Interest Registry relies on the insight and knowledge of the Internet community at large. Working with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the Internet Society (ISOC), technical engineers and various Internet leaders around the world, Public Interest Registry initiates, supports and funds internet enhancements that meet the needs and goals of our customers.

The focus of current efforts includes:

    • Addressing Internet privacy issues
    • Giving registrars and resellers a voice in ICANN through GNSO reform
    • Advancing best practices in registry operations, support and services
    • Continuing support of DNS Security efforts
    • Extending .org, .ngo & .ong international outreach and growth
    • Development of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs)
    • Sponsoring conferences and events hosted by organizations that foster Internet development and increase the noncommercial use of technology
